Robert H. Peterson
Biography
Robert H. Peterson, P.E. is the Director of Engineering for the Ingham County Road
Commission. The Ingham County Road Commission employs over 90 full-time employees and is responsible for the reconstruction, repair,
maintenance, and safety improvements of more than 1,249 miles of roadway,
68 bridges, and hundreds of culverts throughout Ingham County.
As director of Engineering, Mr. Peterson is responsible for a professional-technical staff of ten highly skilled employees in the Engineering Department and Permits Department that jointly help to develop and protect the county road system for the people of Ingham County. Mr. Peterson’s responsibilities include oversight of all activities within the Engineering Department, including surveying activities, design, preparation of construction documents, construction, inspection and testing, and coordinating efforts with other governmental agencies. Mr. Peterson is also responsible for the Permit Department, which regulates all installtions and work within the road right-of-way, permits and manages new subdivision street development, and ensures legal use of the Ingham County road system.
Mr. Peterson is a Registered Professional Engineer, licensed to practice in the State of
Michigan and has over twenty-eight years of experience in the Civil Engineering
field, mostly with private consulting firms. Mr. Peterson is a member
of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Michigan Society of Professional
Engineers, Institute of Transportation Engineers, Chi Epsilon, and Tau
Beta Pi Honor Society. He earned an Associates Degree in Architectural
Engineering Technology from ITT Technical Institute and his Baccalaureate
Degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University.
