supersedes BP#152 resolution #075
subject: Tree Removal / Replacement
The Board of Ingham County Road Commissioners controls the full 66 foot right of way, but to lessen the impact of construction projects on the adjacent property owners, the Board of Ingham County Road Commissioners is adopting the following tree removal and/or replacement policy:
Construction
Projects:
Ornamental trees and/or trees with a diameter greater than six (6) inches removed because of road widening or reconstruction projects will be replaced with trees selected by the Road Commission. This policy does not apply to wood lots cleared for the construction or relocation of a road or where there is heavy over-growth of junk trees, such as elm or box elder. The watering and care for replacement trees is the responsibility of the property owner(s).
Dead Tree
Maintenance:
Dead trees within the county road right of way that are not an immediate safety problem will be removed by the Ingham County Road Commission crews at a time convenient to its operations. An acknowledgement form to remove such dead or dying tree must be signed by the adjacent property owner(s) and the wood from the tree offered to the adjacent property owner(s). Replacement trees will not be provided.
Safety
Problem Trees:
If a dead or live tree within the county road right of way is determined to be a safety problem, the tree will be removed following the procedure outlined in the Right of Way Encroachment Policy for encroachments that are determined to be an immediate safety problem. Replacement trees will not be provided.
This policy supercedes BP-152 adopted April 28, 1988, and takes effect immediately.
