FARM PERMIT

VALID DURING DURATION OF FROST LAWS

 

Permit Process:

 

1.                  The applicant must give the Ingham County Road Commission a 48-hour notice before pickup or delivery of agricultural commodities from a farm or to a farm.  If it is a valid emergency, the permit may be obtained sooner. 

 

2.                  The information the Ingham County Road Commission shall need in order to determine the fee and bonding of a permit is as follows:  route, date of move, time of move, frequency of move, weight of load and what the commodity is to be hauled.  If a bond is required, it must be paid before the permit can be issued.  Other information needed to apply for the permit is as follows:  overall width, height and length of load, license plate number of the vehicle(s) being used and proof of insurance and registration.

 

3.                  The road commission shall determine the route and speed to be used, and a time of move shall be negotiated with the applicant.

 

4.                  It is the applicant’s responsibility the permit is obtained and secured in the vehicle transporting the agricultural commodity. 

 

Permit Fees:

 

Single Move Permit: $42.00 – One trip in and out of a farm loaded in one direction only.

 

Multiple Move Permit:  $120.00 – Multiple trips to and from a farm using the same route.  (Permit fee is based on $120.00 per vehicle.)

 

Road Bond:   Fee to be determined by the Ingham County Road Commission.
